King of the dancefloor ?

Marty Lee is an upcoming Dutch singer/songwriter who worked with some well known artists in the Netherlands. His biggest succes recently was the Dutch Eurovision entry On Top Of The World by Edsilia Rombley.
He's also a member of the Futurepresidents, a group that produces rnb/pop music but they also do some great remixes!
One of their songs is Leave (watch it here), which sounds very....hmm I guess Justin is very influential over here ;) They also made a great remix for popband XYP (watch it here)

King Of The Dancefloor is a catchy euro-dance track and is written by Marty Lee and produced by Italian producer Paolo Sandrini. Oh i almost forgot the singer! It's Dutch Kiana (?) Hmm, i never heard of her....anyway, enjoy it :)

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Im not really into RnB/Rap but the last years it seems RnB artists need us, poplovers ;) Rihanna's album for example isnt really RnB, its a mix of pop/dance & RnB. If RnB goes that way i'd say..keep it comming! I really like it :)

Kanye West is back with a great track called Stronger. I never thought i'd like this but the track samples Daft Punk's 2001 song Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Great beat, Give it a try :)

We're still alive!

Yesterday i was listening to one of my fave popsingles 'In My Pocket' by Mandy Moore and was wondering why we didnt hear anything of her? It seems she was very busy recording her new album Wild Hope :) I still have to listen to it but i really like her new single All Good Things. Let's hope they release it over here!

2006 and 2007 are really the years of the 'come-back'. Take That, Kim Wilde, Dolly Dots....and the Spice Girls. Meanwhile...The Backstreet Boys are trying to get popular again aswell by recording a new album which will be released at the end of October. Their new album seems to include various music styles, combining their earlier mid-90's sound with their most recent guitar driven pop/rock sound. Two songs already leaked; Happily Never After and Helpless When She Smiles, a cover of Dutch singer Bastiaan Ragas' rock ballad. So here they are for those who havent heard them yet:

Shake like a freak on the Lucky Twice song

You might know this Swedish popduo from their hit Lucky, which went platinum in Spain and is been released in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Lucky is a great happy sounding track that doesnt want to end :-) And then there is...Yound & Clever, their debut album...So I took a listen and was hoping for an amazing debut album but after 13 songs it left me with only 3 songs that i really liked! The other songs ain't that special and sounds the same. So it's a little dissapointment but i can't deny that it makes you feel young and happy lol. So that's it, nice girls..okay-ish album...I will leave you with 3 'which i think are the best' songs :-)

The Name
"The name represents every woman. You know how they use the name 'Jane Doe' to talk about a woman? That's what it means."

The Girls
Nora is from Holland (she is French & Moroccan). Nora started singing at the age of 14. She later got her start as a contestant on Popstars The Rivals in the Netherlands. She was one of the members of Dutch popsensation Raffish.

Ness is from the Ukraine ( parents reside in Germany). When Ness turned 12, she was already signed to a label. By 14, she was recording with David Foster and Celine Dion. But even as a child prodigy, she strived to improve. So out went the solo records, and in came a long period of writing, producing and waiting for the right moment.

Angel is from Russia (parents reside in Germany). Despite her love of hip-hop, Angel's background is more traditional – her parents and grandparents were all opera singers in Russian.

Any other interesting tidbits about the girls?
Collectively they speak between 11-13 languages fluently. They were all solo artist in their own rights but being in this band makes them each special.

The women in A Girl Called Jane have strong personalities and a huge passion for music, as well as a good sense of humor. It's a rare mix that could have the band filling stadiums from Boston to Bangkok. "We want to have some fun with this music," says Ness. "And we want to show off our personalities and stay unique." Cosima DeVito, contestant of the first season of the Australian Idol in 2003. I got to know her 2 years ago and thought she was pretty boring (im not really a ballad-lover) but i have to admit that her new single rocks :-)
After some ballads she's back with a funky popsong Keep it natural, could have been a Kelly Clarkson-song though :-)

Philip Kirkorov...the King of Russian Pop and besides that he's also a dancer, an actor, a choreographer, a producer and director. Impressive! And there's more... he has received four World Music Awards for Best Selling Russian Artist. Well that makes us curious, is it really deserved or is it just a Russian fairy tale? Find it out for yourself ;-)

Marjolein
I dont know much about this Flemish (belgian) girl but i do know that i really like this song. Its called Kamer which means 'room/bedroom', i guess you know now where she's singing about ;-) No...not about that she loves making homework doh ;-)
Kamer is a very nice pop/dance song sung in Dutch oh another nice detail; Marjolein is discovered by Regi (famous belgian dance-act Milk Inc.).

Honeyz is a Dutch movie which got a lot of negative feedback. The movie is about 2 girls that locked theirself up in a big department store in Amsterdam. Their intention is to have a great evening, to use all products (make up, parfum, eating a pie lol etc.) But then suddenly the fun is gone cause...someone is entering the store! It's the first movie ever that made use of a three-dimensional high defenition sound, which means the sound comes also from above, interesting :)
Okay let's talk about the girls, one of them is Dutch actress Monique van der Werff, which got famous by playing the role of Taffie in the Dutch soapopera ZOOP. This year she was also one of the famous Dutch contestants of So you wanna be a popstar. The other girl is Anna Speller, which you might know from the band K-otic. Waiting is a very pleasant rocksong.

Crystal

Crystal is a Hungarian popgroup. I discovered them once on another blog (can't remember which) and loved them immediately. Last year i introduced them on this blog but i think it's time to do it again, they're really great! Their music is fantastic, it's a mix of folk and pop/dance. 5 Stars for this great band!

If you love alternative popmusic you should certainly listen to this song. Dover is a Spanish rockband that exicst since 1992 and sold a lot of records in their homecountry. Their last album Follow the citylights is a good produced album with pop and more alternative songs. It's a real must.

Yuna Ito

The last couple of months i'm very impressed by J-POP, Japanese Pop music, I never liked their language but thanks to this girl you see above i really start to like it :-). Thank you Yuna Ito...Yep thats her name, born in America but big Japan. Her songs sounds very West-European, American so no traditional Japanese music at all. Im Here is a very nice popsong that sounds as the popmusic we got to know a few years ago but it's still fab! Another song that i really love is Precious, it's a beautiful ballad and the clip is even more beautiful *sigh* watch it! HERE
